CORPORATE PROFILE

private enterprise clouds
Protect your private enterprise cloud environment using Asigra Cloud Backup™ as an on-premise solution or rely on an Asigra service provider to provide replication or disaster recovery protection in a hybrid cloud environment.

Asigra is a next generation software purpose-built for cloud computing environments and designed to offer backup efficiencies unavailable with traditional backup architecture by allowing enterprises to capture less, ingest less and store less data thus reducing the amount of backup assets you buy, manage and maintain.

Learn how Asigra allows you to efficiently backup and recover your organization's data using:
An Agentless Backup Architecture
Asigra Cloud Backup™ requires no agents, which makes it inherently easier to install and support than legacy backup and recovery solutions.

Backup and recovery software typically requires agents that are installed onto the host servers that a system administrator wants to back up. Even in a modest-sized environment, agent management can get extremely complex when an administrator is forced to deal with different operating systems and revision levels. The complexity of agent management is further complicated by the growing number of software packages that also require agents running on the same host servers, or what is also referred to as "agent pollution".

Military-grade Security
Asigra Cloud Backup™ is the most secure agentless data protection platform in the industry.

Asigra Encryption Advantage

Asigra encrypts the data in flight and at rest from cradle to grave.

  • FIPS 140-2 Certified
  • From laptop or remote office sites (DS-Client) to central repositories (DS-System or BLM)
  • At rest in the centralized repositories
  • Data destroyed based on U.S.Department of Defense 5220.22-M specifications policy with certificate of destruction

You can choose from encryption options that range from DES 56-bit with an 8-character key, to AES 256-bit with a 32-character key. Asigra maintains backward compatibility of its software so that even now, using the current release of Asigra, users can still access and retrieve data encrypted with DES 56-bit encryption years ago.

Asigra Security Track Record

  • Zero breaches or compromised systems in over 20 years of operation
  • IANA-registered ports
  • Data stored in compressed and encrypted format
  • Digital signature for every file and block of data
  • Data on disk in self-describing format
  • Background Autonomic Healing and System Admin
  • Validation Process (digital signature check)

Password Management and Password Rotation

You can align your organization's existing security policies and procedures with your data protection policies. Asigra Cloud Backup™ includes a feature that gives you the option to automatically generate passwords and change them at random for specific backup user accounts, so that no one can access the account or the data.

Asigra Compliance Advantage

Asigra Cloud Backup™ can help your business with a variety of compliance issues:

  • Disk-based, automated solution that runs quietly in the background with no manual intervention - tape backups require manual intervention and thus are not compliant with regulations like Sarbanes Oxley, HIPPA and Gram-Leach-Bliley and others. Contact us for the full list of compliance requirements.
  • All backup data is aggregated, allowing for immediate recovery - traditional backup solutions are not centralized and lead to difficulties in obtaining and providing records to auditors in a timely manner.
  • Backup data is automatically & securely transferred offsite using FIPS 140-2 certified encryption technology via private or public cloud - traditional backup architecture requires additional 3rd party products or manual involvement when transferring data offsite on disk or tape and is thus not secure or reliable.
Deduplication Techniques
Asigra Cloud Backup™ offers unprecedented efficiencies to the data being captured, ingested, stored and transmitted over the network using the following methods:
  • De-duplication techniques
  • Backup and transmission of only new/changed data (incremental forever)
  • Compression techniques
Mass Deployment Functionality
High efficiency. Asigra Cloud Backup™ incorporates mass deployment functionality to enable IT Operations to automatically setup, configure and protect data across the enterprise.

Asigra Cloud Backup™ enables IT Ops to create, deploy and configure Asigra software simultaneously to thousands of laptops, desktops, virtual machines and remote sites using templates. Leveraging Microsoft® Active Directory™ administrators can deploy the Asigra software in silent mode and configure the software automatically to ensure minimum time consumption for end users with similar information (configuration, schedules, backup sets, and retention rules).

Mass Deployment makes backup & restores easier to administer in the following way:

  • Automatic installation and configuration of Asigra software based on templates. Asigra offers flexibility of installation through XML configuration files that can be generated, edited and saved for future installations.
  • Reduced administration tasks through templates. Template based mass deployment allows for standardization, simpler administration of accounts and troubleshooting.
  • Silent mode installation (low touch). Service providers can using the XML configuration files to hide any screens of the Asigra software installation, and set a predefined value for any parameters that would require input during the installation.
Continuous Data Protection
Users often want their data to be protected as soon as it is in its final state. Continuous Data Protection (CDP) refers to data automatically backed up whenever a change is made to that data (asynchronous backup). Therefore, CDP enables data copies almost in real-time, capturing every version of the data whenever the user saves it. It allows the data to be restored to any point in time.

Asigra's agentless CDP feature allows unlimited granularity since users can have their data recovered from an infinite number of recovery point objectives (RPO). CDP protected files are backed up whenever they are saved to disk by users in their source computers. It also continuously monitors the changes on the specified target files and backs up the changes as soon as they are detected. Asigra CDP is implemented as a backup option and can be applied to file systems and email backup sets to improve recovery SLA of critical data.

The benefits of using CDP include:

  • Increase SLA compliance. CDP provides the user with the peace of mind that the latest version of critical data has been backed up and is available to be recovered.
  • Flexible RPOs. Traditional backups can only restore data to the point at which the backup was taken. With CDP, there are no backup schedules. When protected data is saved to disk, it is also asynchronously written to the centralized storage repository. CDP keeps not only the latest saved version of protected data but also keeps track of the previous versions, allowing data recovery from a wider range of time.
  • Immediate protection of critical data. Once protected data is saved to disk, it is backed up locally (if local storage is available) and sent encrypted over the WAN to be stored offsite in the centralized repository. Backup window and recovery time objectives (RTOs) are reduced to zero.
